Monkey Forest di hutan Padangtegal merupakan situs suci Hindu Bali. Sehingga Kera yang berada di hutan Padangtegal berbeda dari kera kebanyakan. Pasalnya, kera tersebut disucikan oleh masyarakat setempat. Monkey forest begitulah kawasan ini dinamakan oleh masyarakat desa Padangtegal, dikelola oleh yayasan Mandala Wisata Wenara Wana.

Wisata Bali yang menghadirkan kera - kera dan pepohonan rimbun berlokasi di Jalan monkey forest - Padangtegal - Ubud - Bali - Indonesia. Dengan harga tiket untuk dewasa Rp. 15.000/orang dan anak - anak Rp. 7.500/anak, wisatawan bisa menikmati hutan kera seluas 12 hektare.

2 patung besar kera di kiri dan kanan jalan raya menjadi pintu ucapan selamat datang menuju Monkey Forest. Pintu masuk Monkey Forest ada 2, yakni pintu masuk sisi timur dan sisi barat. Pintu masuk sisi timur menjadi favorit pengunjung, selain merupakan pintu masuk utama juga karena area parkir untuk kendaraan lebih luas. Setelah membeli tiket, para pengunjung akan mendapat sambutan hangat kera - kera kecil di pintu masuk. Mereka seakan mengharap lemparan makanan dari pengunjung. Tak apalah, bila kita tidak memberikan makan, kalaupun kita ingin memberi makan pada si kera maka pihak manajemen Monkey Forest juga menjual setandan pisang yang dihargai Rp. 10.000 di pintu masuk.

Lebatnya hutan tropis di wana wisata Monkey Forest mengiringi langkah kami berpetualang dengan kera - kera lucu. Si kera - kera membuntuti langkah pengunjung kemanapun pergi. Di bagian dalam Monkey Forest terdapat kolam air berbentuk lingkaran, dimana tiap sudutnya terpajang patung kera. Turun ke bawah dengan menaiki anak tangga, maka kita bisa melihat Pura Dalem Agung dan Pura Permandian Suci dengan 3 konsep pura :
  • Pura Pertama - Utama Mandala, yaitu tempat permandian para dewa.
  • Pura kedua - Madia Mandala, di mana terdapat sebuah kolam suci.
  • Pura ketiga - Nista Mandala sebagai tempat permandian untuk umum.

Petualangan yang menggembirakan bersama kera - kera jinak di Monkey Forest Ubud. Monkey Forest buka dari jam 8 pagi hingga 6 sore.
