N O V E L T Y Mykro Magazine is Back
N O V E L T Y Mykro Magazine is Back
Do you remember Mykromag? Pioneer as the first true androgynous fashion magazine exclusively in black and white (2009). Founded by Sonny Groo who has had an incredible eye for what is now and has always managed to bring the most interesting features; Formicetti, Iris van Herpen, Guillame Henri, JW Anderson to name a few and also projects like a printed a set of books in collaboration with Rad Hourani.(If youve been reading my blog long enough you might remember that I also used to be a regular contributor to the Mykromag blog).
But the Black and white pages of Mykro (minus the mag) are back. With a small team based in Amsterdam theyve made it happen after a two year break. It somewhat reminds me of interview magazine in the way that it shows a very personal and human side of the fashion industry. The 12 interviews in this issue include 91 year old Eileen Ford founder of Ford models, Tumblr s Fashion evangelist (thats right, this is an official title) Valentine Uhovski, Esteban Cortezar and the iconic miss Daphne Guinness.

My Teen Magazine Years
My Teen Magazine Years
That is until Teen Vogue came along. Teen Vogue was the closest to my ideal teen magazine that I have ever seen. It had seriously stylish clothes and the editorials were styled well. The covers were pretty and the cover girls were usually girls whom I liked the style of. I mean, you know those editorials where there is the celebritys way of wearing it and our way of wearing it? Ive always thought Teen Vogues copying of said celebritys ways of dressing was classier than other magazines ways and actually looked quite similar to the celebritys outfits. And yes, its small size made it cute, and convenient to buy and carry around.Even the topics that the editorials talked about were somewhat interesting and relevant, (although they were seriously short and kind of superficial). One of the few things I didnt like about Teen Vogue were the annual Hollywood issue and Music issue, but I still liked the fashion in these issues more than what I see elsewhere. Oops, I think Ive been blabbering too much about how much I loved Teen Vogue. While I think Teen Vogue is certainly not perfect, it really is my favourite teen magazine out there.
What was your teen magazine years like? Which magazines did you like and buy?
