Name That JJJ Artist! Game!!

Name That JJJ Artist! Game!!

Once again, you folks make out like bandits due to me screwing the pooch, and not updating Snark Free Waters enough. This time, its a GIANT game, asking you to identify the artist who drew each of TWENTY-NINE drawings of J. Jonah Jameson, taken from various issues of the first volume of Amazing Spider-Man. Forty pencillers (not counting Don Heck pencilling over Romitas breakdowns, as that seemed cheesy) pencilled Amazing Spider-Man during the first volume, and twenty-nine of them drew J. Jonah Jameson. Here is a list of the eleven who never got a chance to draw JJJ. Click "Read More" to find links to the twenty-nine chances to...NAME THAT JJJ ARTIST!!!

My name is Timmy I blog on Weekends DIY contains things that I formed during weekends I have perm

This is the first post on this blog. English is the title of my blog, but I decided to use the English Filipino its content. First of all, I am a Filipino. Obvious rockwell is not it? Hehe! Second, many of the blogs use of the English language. But I also guarantee that it will be a pure Filipino I blog because there were many words that I did not translate into my own language. Such as DIY and weekends. This post is about what I read (rug). When looking on Google for ways of making my own rug, it seems the easiest for me. Actually no matter how easy a DIY, I still easy to intimidate. I much reason to postpone the making of a project. But not yesterday. Do I need to rag on foot! I say it's easy to do. Can a rag finish the day. Let me just watch as many movies as mature children. And when they were asleep, I stick continuing sewing.
3. It seems tinitirintas plait the hair of Rapunzel. Hehehe! At each end, I pinagdudugtong rockwell another length of fabric through pagbuhol them. But can also sew the ends. When you nakapagtirintas while maybe five feet, you can sew it around, side to side. Note: Do not sew extra stiffness for lumulobo not among the rag.
About Me
My name is Timmy. I blog on Weekends DIY contains things that I formed during weekends. I have permanent work from Monday to Friday and when I come home every night I would prefer just to watch over my family. So on weekends only having time for my own vices: the DIY. Artist me and whether I would even draw or paint, the more inclined I am now in the artwork that has advantages in our home. :) View my complete profile

More Thoughts On the Anti Pirate Measures That Will Work

More Thoughts On the Anti Pirate Measures That Will Work

Well, the storm of commentary and attention directed at my Assassins Creed 2 DRM article has died down a little bit. I suspect that that little blog post is one of the most read pieces of text Ive ever written. At this point, 90% of the Internet has posted on Slashdot, The Escapist, or somewhere else to say Im an idiot. The intensity of the reaction was quite interesting to me, and the various responses left me with a lot of what, for me, passes for thoughts.

I think a lot of the intensity of the reaction was because, simply, many people hadnt heard about this new DRM system. Or, if they had, they were still heated up over it. Add in the constant need among pirates to come up with increasingly overwrought justifications for their obviously illegal and immoral actions, and you have the expected traveling firestorm.

It is now rumored that crackers are making short work of this new DRM software. Believe me, I hope this is the case. As I said in the previous article, I think these measures are overall bad for the PC games industry (of which I am a part). However, this alleged victory will, I think, be short-lived. Once these games are being coded to constantly contact the developers servers, developers have a lot of new weapons in their anti-pirate arsenal. More about this in point #2, below.

But, in the mess, interesting things were said. Here is what I have learned (or still believe):

1. To "work", anti-piracy measures only need to stay unbroken for the peak sales period of the game. That is, the first three months or so. If it stays uncracked for that long, the developers win. I never said that there was uncrackable DRM, because that is not true. It does not need to be uncrackable.

2. UbiSofts "Have the game maintain a constant Internet connection and move a lot of the processing onto the server" solution will slow down cracking. If not now, then in the future. Developers can move more and more processing onto the server. Right now, its just saved games. Later, they can move more and more code off of your machine and onto theirs.

You want your very-difficult-to-crack DRM system? Here it is! Take all the statistics (and maybe scripts) for creatures and items and weapons and put them on the server. The game only downloads them when it needs them. This is ten thousand little chunks, only a handful of KB, of vital and irreplaceable data, and it will take a long time for a cracker to get the game to download all of the bits so he can isolate and read them all and put them in his fake server/cracked game. And God help you if he missed an item. Dont just wave your hands and go, "Oh, someone could break that easy." This system is already routinely used by MMOs, and it would work.

(And I suspect Assassins Creed 2 has some of this and they just havent told us yet. Remember, it has to be using that constant net connection for something.)

Once the game is developed with a constant net connection in mind, the developer can heap an arbitrary amount of work on hackers. Ive read a lot of "easy solutions" to the problem over the last few days. All assume they know everything thats going on on the server side. Not a good assumption.

3. Oh, and by the way, the constant server thing is temporary. UbiSoft has already said that, when they dont want to maintain the servers anymore, they will release a patch removing the need for the game to talk to them. I give it about six months until this happens. Maintaining that many servers is expensive, and once that period of time has passed they wont need the DRM there anymore. Then Assassins Creed 2 is free to appear on ten buck shovelware DVD compilations, coming to a Best Buy near you.

4. People have an almost religious need to believe in the power of the cracker to overcome any obstacle in his (or her?) way. I think that part of the ideological structure pirates build to justify their actions must include believing that, "Hey, itll always be cracked anyway." Either that, or people just dont wanna believe that the river of cool free stuff they believe they are entitled to might dry up.

5. If you use the terms "hacker" and "cracker" interchangeably, you will make a small number of people very angry at you.

6. Suppose, for the sake of argument, they did develop pirate-proof DRM on the PC. Lots of people seem to assume that, when people cant pirate the game, they just wont buy it. Hogwash. People LOVE games. If they have to pay money to get games, they will. Just look at the XBox, Wii, and PS3. Its possible to pirate games there, but it is not easy. Thus, people pay tons of cash for them. Its easy to talk big about how you will never pay money for games with restrictive DRM, but everyone has a price. If games as sexy as Diablo 3 ever start coming with the mean DRM, a lot of people are going to sigh, grit their teeth, and accept it.

So, as repellent as the new system is, they arent insane for trying. The rewards for success are considerable.

So thank you for all the attention. And, if you dont think Im an entire idiot, my newest fantasy RPG for Windows and Mac doesnt have any scary DRM at all. And the demo is huge and free. Please excuse this blatant self-promotion. Thank you, and good night.

Monsters and snacks Pyjama Pants PLUS that myfabrics co uk discount code one last time!

Monsters and snacks Pyjama Pants PLUS that myfabrics co uk discount code one last time!

Heres my third and final project for The Cheeky One using knit given to me by myfabrics.co.uk, plus the last reminder about the month-long discount code that they have kindly offered my blog readers in UK and Ireland.

Pattern:

Now I must admit that Dolores had nothing to do with picking out this final fabric selection. I just really liked it and *hoped* she would too when she saw it. When it arrived, she actually reacted rather neutrally to it, so I decided to introduce it into her wardrobe in a fairly neutral way: as pyjamas. Therefore, if she suddenly took an aversion to them (could happen), I can shrug my shoulders and pack them away for the mini-dude to wear when hes big enough, without having to see the awesomeness go to waste.

As Im typing this in mid-September, its still really warm here in UK. So I thought a pair of jammie bottoms that will be suitable for the transition from summer to autumn would be a good plan. Enter: my trusty stash of Ottobre design magazines!  Like the Spring 1/2013 issue, I also initially regarded the Summer 3/2013 issue to be a bit of a dud. Again, I was wrong.

The Easy Piece jersey pants pattern looked suitably quick and simple to make, and comfy to wear. I combined the size 92 for the width and size 98 for the length, then decided to add an extra 2cm to the length of the legs so that the bottom-leg cuffs would be lower and less likely to get caught on her knees when she bends her legs. The time spent tracing the pattern pieces and adding seam allowances was paid back by a quick and easy construction process. Alongside these knit projects, Ive recently been working on a pretty involved sewing project (to be disclosed in a month or so), so I needed these to be speedy or they might notve happened given my current size and energy levels.

Fabric:

As with the lightning flash and pirate knits, this mental monsters-with-snack-foods print knit is also a medium-weight single jersey with excellent stretch and recovery. It also has quite a soft handle, all of which makes it perfect for kids nightwear. Unfortunately, it looks like the colour way with the white background has sold out, but the pink version can be found here.

The pattern calls for ribbing for the cuffs and waist band, but I only have grey and navy ribbing in my stash, so I used some solid red jersey instead (leftover from my leggings). It worked out pretty well, except I should have added a bit of width to the waistband as it has come out a little tight, probably because the red jersey doesnt have as much give in it as a ribbing would. Its fine for now, but I was hoping these jammie bottoms would last Dolores a year or so. I reckon Im going to have to remake and replace the waistband at some point in the spring.

Thoughts and discount code:

Its been so fun choosing and sewing with these knits, Im very grateful for myfabrics.co.uk for the opportunity. If I got to do this another time, Id probably focus on their selection of GOTS certified organic jersey and poplins that I only just saw that they stock. Theyve got some really cute printed poplin that would have been fun to work with, as Ive only used organic knits to date and Id like to see if the extra softness that organic knits seems to all have is true of organic wovens as well.

So if you fancy splashing out on some of their stock, remember you have until the end of this month (September 2016) to use the following code: SoZo16 to receive £10 off your myfabrics.co.uk order (minimum order £60). The fine print is that the code can only be once per order, and once per customer, and not in combination with other vouchers.
